Implant Dentistry

If you are missing a single tooth, a dental implant is likely the most conservative method of tooth replacement since adjacent teeth do not have to be shaved down as you would for a bridge. A dental implant is made of a titanium alloy and mimics a tooth root once it has been allowed to integrate into you jaw. A single implant can support a crown. Two implants can support a bridge. If you have a complete lower denture, implants can make a dramatic difference in stability, comfort and confidence since an implant supported denture does not pinch, loosen when you yawn or risk flying out when you sneeze. Studies have shown that implants prevent the loss of bone. Over time the shape of the face collapses with the natural progression of bone loss in individuals wearing complete dentures only. We are able to plan, place and restore implants in our office. Dr. Kang is trained in three different implant systems and will choose the system most appropriate for the situation.
